Chavalah

It's late! Nearly midnight here in Arizona! My dear head is SO FULL and my heart is even fuller right now with so much going on! Please pray for me!

Big appointment tomorrow with our Neurologist. She is our second opinion, and I am just PRAYING for a great doctor, one that will listen, hear us out, and recommend well! We need some answers, and I'm believing that our GREAT PHYSICIAN, GOD, will reveal Himself through Dr Sweetman! If you could be praying for our appointment that would be great. Even if you read this after it's already happened, still pray for solid answers to many pending questions! Our appointment is 10 MST! I'll try and post tomorrow (September 1) afternoon.

Quick Update

My life right now is a bit "out of control" so I will try and write brief updates as I can, and will add pictures at a later time. I have this mental block that I can't write unless I have pictures! SORRY!

So, I wanted to update you on our appointment today with the Orthopedic Specialist. I can't believe how anxious I was building up to it, and to think I was just going to "give up." My therapists insisted I get a second opinion, and I'm glad that I did. Today, after Bible Study, we met with a doctor up in Phoenix regarding Chavalah's leg issue. Basically, he noticed her left leg (also her very weak side) was "shorter" than the other leg. He sat and played with her for about 5 minutes making her stand, sit, lay down to measure and move her hips, etc. After his physical exam, he said, with different lengths in legs, they usually take an x-ray of the hip to be sure there isn't some abnormal bone structure there. So within five minutes, the tech came in, we took and got her x-ray, then five minutes later the doctor was back in the room discussing with me that her hips looked great (which was a blessing), however, the leg is still "shorter than the other. He noticed the stiffness in her movement and also quickly noted her left side (the entire side) was weaker than the right. He believes that the reason her leg is shorter (at this point) is because of the nerve damage from the high amount of drugs at birth, and that her muscles are actually so stiff and so tight that it's actually pulling her left leg up making it shorter. So it's the stiffness and tightness to blame. He said that since she's not really cruising (one or two steps at most) and she's not standing up on her own yet, that he recommends we get her a little more developmentally towards actual walking, then he forsees a brace in her near future once she starts walking more, or cruising more. Indefinitely. Could be a short period, could be long! Not sure. Before we left, he also suggested we have an MRI done to rule out why the stiffness (which we already knew) to see if that helps explain things also.

We go back in three months!

I'm wiped! Today has been a VERY LONG DAY! Going to bed now, but hope to post more soon! Again, thanks for your continued prayers through all this! We're getting there!

LONG WEEK!

So, I'm still alive! WE'RE still alive! Been a long and rough week for us at the Baltzlys, but we're ready to start tomorrow bright and early with a brand new week! THANK GOODNESS!

This last week we took Chavalah to the Orthopedic specialist and yet again walked out completely CRUSHED! We have had two terrible doctor's in our visits both to the Neurologist and now the Ortho! So, our therapists said, "NO WAY do you stop here and just give up, she NEEDS to be seen by a different one! A second opinion." So, I will try and schedule with a different Orthopedic Specialist in the near future.

Chavalah also got strep throat which was a bit stressful. She wasn't eating, had a high fever and actually lost over a 1/2 a pound in less than a week! This doesn't help an already TINY baby girl. We started antibiotics Tuesday night, and by Thursday she was covered in a rash and as miserable as ever! We took her in Friday and confirmed and found out she is allergic to the medication she was on. It's in the Penicillin family, so we stopped that immediately and she has continued to improve these last few days.

Laine had a FABULOUS first week in ALL DAY Kindergarten! He was already asking if he can go to school again tomorrow. That's a great sign! :) He's quite proud.

Ezra, well, dear Ezra is TWO, and definitely has a mind of his own! :) It was a tough week with "instructing" but I'm praying for a whole new week this week!

I started my Bible Study also last week and am SO EXCITED about my new study! Already I've learned so much about how to fill my life and my days FULL of God's faithful and true WORD! And I look forward to a few hours this week in getting some things written out so I can better cope with life as a young mommy! I'm so lucky! So blessed! But I need God more than life itself and it is a learned thing! It's not natural for me AT ALL!

So, soon here, I will post pictures from Laine's first day of school and if there are any more I'm forgetting! :)

Laine's "Back to School" Date with Mommy

We always get the special cup!

The VOLCANO!!!!!!

Well, we had SO MUCH FUN tonight. So far, last year and this year, we've had the privilege of going out for a special night out without brothers and sisters to finish our school shopping and dinner date with mommy! Oh MAN, I love it! And of course, so does Laine! Tonight was just as fun as last year, and he's already talking about next year! :) Ha!

Hope you enjoyed the pics above! Can't BELIEVE I have an all day Kindergarten in my hands! WOW! Today he and I worked together to make our lunch sandwiches and got them in the freezer, so in addition to tonight, we've had a very fun filled "school prep" day! Thursday we'll "label" and pack all our supplies in our school bag, then go to the "Meet The Teacher" night at 6:30, then school officially starts MONDAY!

I'll of course update you with pictures Monday! Along with Chavalah's update!

Update on Chavalah

Many of you were praying so graciously for us last week as we met with a Neurologist on Chavalah's behalf! THANK YOU! Unfortunately, our experience was unbelieveably AWFUL, to say the least, and we will be getting a second opinion on September 1 now. So, we really didn't accomplish ANYTHING with that.

Our Ortho appt, however, is this coming Monday, and I am excited to get there for that to see what's going on with her leg. The Neurologist actually DID notice that and won't "rule out" a possible inutero stroke until, she finds out what the Ortho sees on her x-rays. Hoping and PRAYING for a much better appointment Monday!

We also went to her 1 year well child check! Can't BELIEVE she's already a year! Nothing too concerning, we're growing, still very slowly, but GROWING! We are going down in percentile with weight the older we get, we're now down to 3%, but she's still gaining (a few ounces) and not losing, so we're just figuring she'll just stay TINY, and we'll just keep her on her Neosure (formula for preemies) to keep her packed with calories at least in that. With continued solids as we can get her to eat them!

Thanks again for praying and I'm sorry it took me so long to update! I know several e-mailed me and were wondering!

Just "hangin'" around!

Chavalah discovered the rocks! :)

....and the sprinkler! :)

The boys riding their bikes on the "mini ramp."

Beautiful sunset!

Ezra helping daddy mow part of the grass! :)

Arizona has broken another record! It was THE HOTTEST month of July on record EVER! Shew! And I am GLAD that it's over, but it's NOT over, it's now AUGUST and STILL too hot! The kids and I have been ITCHING to get outside and play, but really the only decent time to go out is AFTER the sun has gone down and that's usually when the kids are ready for bed. Last night, however, we had had ENOUGH, so we all went outside. Daddy worked on the yard, and the kids rode their bikes over the mini bike ramp that daddy made for the boys. Chavalah had her first "real" exploring experience outside and HAD A BLAST!!! As you can see from the pictures, she did the infamous "eating rocks." :) All in all, it was a nice refreshing little break! Now, as I type this we're getting a storm! :) Hope this cools things down a bit for us!!!!

Living Room

So, I know, there have been a few pictures posted of our new "living room" but I thought I'd officially put it up here for you to see! We are SOO excited to FINALLY have purchased our very first piece of living room furniture EVER! :) Waited 7 married years to do so, and even longer through our single days! :)
